The bulb in your lamp is a halogen bulb. DO NOT TOUCH the bulb with your bare hand. One reason is because the bulb gets super hot - Ouch! Secondly, the natural oils from your hand will decrease the life or blow any halogen bulb, this applies to halogen bulbs for your car or home as well.
